Adam Maher’s double helps PSV to a 4-0 win over SDC Putten
PSV have reached the second round of the KNVB Beker after they cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win against SDC Putten at Sportpark Putten End on Thursday night.
PSV head coach Phillip Cocu handed a start to Adam Maher, Kenneth Paal, Bart Ramselaar and Sam Lammers, while Marko van Ginkel, Nicolas Isimat and Santiago Arias were rested.
One of the newcomers immediately made his mark. Maher unleashed a shot from twenty yards out that flew into the top corner of the net on six minutes: 1-0.
Ramselaar and Pereiro had chances to double PSV’s lead but lacked sharpness in front of goal. PSV started the game brightly but despite their pressure could not kill off the game in the first half.
Phillip Cocu’s men did not create any clear-cut chances while the hosts had their moments when they made a quick transition from defence to attack.
SDC Putten went in search of an equaliser after the restart but PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet did not have to make any meaningful saves. At the other end, Sam Lammers had two half chances to extend PSV’s advantage.
First he sent a header just over the bar before he hit the bar when he was at the end of a well-worked move.
The match was virtually over as a contest on the hour mark when Derrick Luckassen, opening his PSV account, tapped home from close range, leaving SDC Putten goalkeeper Hoogewoning with no chance: 0-2.
Adam Maher and Sam Lammers scored two more goals in the closing stages. Dante Rico, who has risen though the ranks at PSV, made his senior debut.
