PSV 3-0 FC Utrecht
PSV scored some great goals in their 3-0 victory against FC Utrecht in an entertaining game at the Philips Stadion on Saturday night. Luuk de Jong executed a technically peerless, acrobatic bicycle kick to double PSV’s lead.
After having survived two early scary moments, PSV made the breakthrough after sixteen minutes. Bart Ramselaar started a mazy run on the left and saw his cross deflected by Ramon Leeuwin into his own net: 1-0.
PSV had already breathed a sigh a huge relief on two occasions. Sander van de Streek shot straight at Jeroen Zoet and Mark van der Maarel hit the inside of the post, with the goal at his mercy.
PSV doubled their lead five minutes after they opened the scoring, with a piece of magic from Luuk de Jong. Santiago Arias swept in a cross just behind PSV’s striker up front who then found the back of the net with a stunning bicycle kick: 2-0.
PSV thought they had won a penalty when Gaston Pereiro went down in the box. Referee Kevin Blom pointed to the spot but reversed his decision at the advice of his linesman and the Uruguayan went into the notebook for a dive.
FC Utrecht did not give up and created chances but Steven Bergwijn wrapped up the three points for PSV six minutes into the second half. He sprinted all the way from his own half, shrugged off Sean Kleiber, kept his composure and comfortably slotted home: 3-0.
It was game over as PSV held on for 3-0 win to stay on top of the Eredivisie table with 68 points. Hendrix Jorrit was booked in the closing stages and misses PSV’s next game, away at Willem II next Saturday.
