PSV run riot against FC Utrecht after the break
PSV got their 2018/19 campaign off to a flying start, putting in an impressive performance and recording an emphatic 4-0 win over FC Utrecht on Saturday night.
Van Bommel handed Lozano his first start of the season. The Mexican World Cup contender, who scored 17 goals last season, started pre-season training later than his team mates and was on the bench when PSV faced Feyenoord last weekend.
It was PSV who started brighter, with Gastón Pereiro credited with the first goal of the season at the Philips Stadion sixteen minutes into the encounter.
The Uruguayan smashed a free kick off the underside of the bar into the back of the net: 1-0.
Steven Bergwijn extended PSV’s lead in the 57th minute. A corner was half-cleared to him on the edge of the area. He controlled the ball well before firing it into the top corner: 2-0.
PSV were all over the place. Hirving Lozano powered in a precise shot and the Philips Stadion erupted once more when Denzel Dumfries rose high to head home a debut goal from a corner: 4-0.
