One sloppy moment cost PSV dearly in their 2-2 draw at FC Twente on Thursday night. Celina scored the equaliser in the last minute of added time. PSV’s title hopes are over and they have a mountain to climb in their quest for second place.

Twenty seconds were on the clock when Marco van Ginkel was played clean through but one-on-one with Nick Marsman, he was denied by the FC Twente goalkeeper. PSV had made it clear they would adopt an attacking approach.

Ajax and Feyenoord had run out winners on Wednesday night and Phillip Cocu’s team needed a win to keep their chances of a second-place finish alive. It set the tone for an action-packed first half.

In spite of their attacking intentions, PSV were a goal down on seven minutes. FC Twente top scorer Enes Ünal showed his class, swivelling past his marker to slot home into the far corner: 1-0.

It was a short-lived lead. PSV were not unduly impressed and Jürgen Locadia put his side back on level terms. A well-worked move was finished off by the forward, who curled the ball past Marsman: 1-1.

The first half was a highly entertaining affair, with plenty of end-to-end stuff. Joachim Andersen hit the post for FC Twente but at the other end Marsman was regularly called into action. HT:1-1

PSV took the lead in the 51st minute, when Héctor Moreno tapped home from close range. PSV could not kill off the game but looked to hold on for a narrow win. One sloppy moment cost them dearly as Bersant Celina netted a last-second equaliser for the hosts: 2-2.
